AN EXPERIENCE YOU’LL NEVER FORGET: UTRECHT INSPIRES!
The Utrecht Station District has seen a major regeneration, both in its hard infrastructure, its built environment and the public realm. As in similar regeneration programmes elsewhere, it has taken almost 20 years, a generation, since its principle decision for the investment. And although the masterplan allowed adaptation over time, new challenges are appearing, asking for structural new approaches in living working and mobility. Understanding the challenges of the future and finding ways to address them are key part of the Conference programme. Utrecht will share its new initiatives to discuss approaches for these challenges. E.g. Utrecht is opting for a strategy of Healthy Urban Living. Together with our partners and the international guests attending this conference, we want to discuss, think about and share ideas on how to tackle the growth challenges in urban areas today, grouped into the three main programme themes:
- Connectivity: Creating Space to build a Place
- Lifestyles: The Work Life balance
- Governance: Collaboration & an Inventive Bureaucracy
The tours and workshops during the conference will focus on daily practice: you will see, experience and discuss how Utrecht is shaping their changing and growing city. What are the issues and challenges? How are our partner cities addressing these? And how can we inspire each other?
The Utrecht Spring Conference offers approx. 20 tours and workshops in the afternoon of Thursday 24 May.
The first series of workshops will be expanded over the coming weeks.
CONNECTIVITY: CREATING SPACE TO BUILD A PLACE
